Happy 50th Birthday, Mr. President: What an Amazing Decade

Early Happy Birthday to President Barack Obama! On this coming Thursday, Mr. President will have lived to see a total of 50 years. Obama is grateful that the debt ceiling debate has concluded, and it makes for a wonderful birthday present. President Obama recently told NPR “What I really want right now is to, to get a debt-ceiling deal for my birthday,” and his wish came true.

As the Associated Press reports, “Obama’s birthday on Thursday falls two days after the deadline the president and lawmakers [were] to agree on borrowing more money to keep paying the country’s bills or else send the U.S….into a potentially calamitous, first-ever default on its financial obligations.” Luckily for him and the entire United States, the Republicans and Democrats of Congress came to a consensus on Sunday. Reportedly, Mr. President would have potentially been forced to forego his own birthday celebration, two birthday fundraisers planned for this Wednesday in Chicago, and another windy city event featuring Herbie Hancock and Jennifer Hudson.

President Obama says, “I feel real good about 5-0…I’ve gotten a little grayer since I took this job, but otherwise, I feel pretty good.” He added that First Lady Michelle Obama told him that she still finds him to be physically attractive.  To this, the President proceeded to say, “And I guess that’s, that’s all that matters, isn’t?”
